Daegu International School

Daegu International School (DIS) offers kindergarten through Grade 12 in Dong-gu, Daegu. Families can compare primary, middle and high-school pathways, including Advanced Placement study in the upper school. The school publishes separate Korean-national and foreign-national admissions rules; a rolling foreign-national route does not mean an unrestricted application window for every child.
School levels and curriculum
Grade levels: High school, Kindergarten, Middle school, Primary school.
Grade and curriculum pathways
| Stage | Published study scope |
|---|---|
| Kindergarten-Grade 5 | Elementary pathway; early years use age-appropriate activities, communication and social development. Core studies include language arts and mathematics with exploratory learning. |
| Grades 6-8 | Middle-school progression with English language arts, grade-specific core studies, exploratory classes and world languages. |
| Grades 9-12 | High-school curriculum lists English, mathematics, science, social studies, visual arts, music, Spanish, Chinese, physical education/wellness and college counseling. AP choices require placement and scheduling approval. |
Sophomores may take at most two AP courses; juniors/seniors at most four annually. Three or four AP courses require at least one learning-lab period. An AP offering is not a university degree or a guarantee that every subject runs each year. Request the current course guide and individual graduation plan before transferring.
Admissions and placement
Nationality, placement and assessment
- Foreign-national admissions are rolling within their quota.
- Korean nationals follow the annual category and additional special category; Korean dual citizens count in the Korean category.
- The school FAQ says its foreign-educational-institution classification does not impose the usual three-years-overseas rule.
- This does not waive selection, capacity or document requirements.
- K-Grade 1 assessment uses play/mock-class observation; Grades 2-5 include English reading/writing and a mock class; Grades 6-12 assess English and classroom readiness.
- Academic, social and language suitability are considered.
- Overseas assessment can be arranged online according to the FAQ. Grade placement follows prior schooling and calendar alignment; parents cannot freely choose a grade.

Scholarships and fee support
Scholarships and fee reductions
No scholarship award, eligibility threshold or financial-aid amount was verified in the official pages reviewed. Funding metadata therefore remains unconfirmed. Published late-entry tuition proration is a timing adjustment, not a merit scholarship. Ask admissions for a written current aid policy and use the full published fee as your baseline until an award is confirmed.

Campus and living arrangements
The residence program has capacity for 64 students, with one-/two-person rooms, private bathrooms, study and shared facilities, laundry, heating/cooling and supervision. A published room category is not a reservation: confirm vacancies, meals, weekends, holidays, supervision and residence rules with the school before budgeting or travel.
